The following two resources will help teachers and coordinators alike understand the major changes made in the new high school text.  Answers to big questions and detailed visuals are provided to facilitate an easy and smooth transition to the new high school text.

Challenges of Citizenship:  a power point with in depth discussion of the unique challenges faced by American citizens in our modern world.  This includes a discussion of duties, rights, and responsibilities.

Congress Today:  this power point is a modern look at the legislative branch.  How well does the branch designed in 1787 work today?  Should Congress be the “supreme branch”?

Miranda v. Arizona:  a case study for Unit 4:  this power point examines how the branches and the states interact and respond when faced with a particular issue.

Due Process:  this power point is aligned with Unit 3, lesson 18 of the new text.  It looks at the due process clause of the 14th Amendment and how it has changed the Constitution.

Suffrage in the United States:  this power point examines the origin of suffrage, its importance and extension.  The role of the First Amendment in helping advocates of suffrage is also explored.
