On September 9th two schools in Kern County were honored for their efforts to educate for democracy.  Endeavor Elementary and Foothill High were both named Schools of Distinction by the California Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools.  Only four schools in the entire state were chosen for this prestigious award.  This award highlights efforts by these schools to implement the six promising practices for democracy education.  Both Endeavor and Foothill have active We the People and Project Citizen programs.  The awards ceremony was sponsored by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools and attended by staff and students from both schools.
